Sticky, who invited his friends with his signature summoning call, “Let’s make PaRTY,” had a brilliant first ever solo art show full of familiar faces and tons of accolades. By the end of the night, a good deal of artwork had been claimed and purchased (but there are still some great pieces left!)
Sticky arrived fashionably late with friends in tow, all with paint-streaked hands from a pre-painting party, just as the Cosmonauts began to play, having had the PA system hand-delivered by Tomorrows Tulips’ Alex Knost and Ford Archbold, and also just as the single-serve bottles of Jagermeister showed up en masse. To say that Sticky brings the party with him would be correct. This crescendo approach that Sticky does so well — building steadily with energy until exploding in high pitch fervor – is also illustrative of the Newport Beach local’s art: the acrylic, paint pen and newspaper collage pieces that the artist created from massive to miniscule, including floor to ceiling crane murals, small 12×9” Vampire Snails with lightbulb eyes and skateboards repurposed into daggers. Artwork continued to sell after the Cosmonauts’ short but intense set and Sticky wrapped up a super successful solo show.
Thank you Arnette and Volcom for your support. Artwork will be on view through June 24. Love Kills prints and several original pieces are still available for purchase.
